Membership dues
Receipts for membership dues paid in full are issued at the beginning of the month following the month in which the payment is received. For example, if dues are paid in April, the receipt would be issued at the beginning of May.
Receipts for monthly premium payments are issued in January for payments that are made from September to December and in August for payments made from January to July.
Health and dental plan receipts
Receipts for DNS Extended Health and Dental Plan premiums are issued upon full payment at the beginning of the month following the month in which the payment was received. (For example, if dues are paid in April, the receipt would be issues at the beginning of May.) The receipts are for the tax year in which they are paid.
Receipts for monthly premium payments are issued in January, and include all payments made from the previous January to December.
T4 forms
A T4 represents the honoraria paid to members who sit on committees as per the Honoraria & Expense Policy.
T4A forms
A T4A form represents:
- the amount Doctors Nova Scotia paid on behalf of a member’s corporation towards their Extended Health & Dental premiums the amount Doctors Nova Scotia paid on your behalf of a member personally towards their Extended Health & Dental premiums
- the combined amounts a member receives personally for the following benefits, if that amount exceeds $500:
- Parental leave
- Medical student bursary
- IMG Grant
In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, T4As aren't issued to members who receive rebates of $500 or less, or to members who have registered their incorporations with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia on or before Dec. 31 of the taxation year.
