Bursary eligibility
To be eligible for the medical student bursary, you must:
- Be a member of DNS
- Be a member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA)
- Be enrolled at Dalhousie Medical School or a Nova Scotia student studying medicine at Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec or Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick (CFMNB)
- Be a volunteer on a committee or working group, or a volunteer for an organization, coalition or government program that falls within a health-related field
- Be a resident of Nova Scotia as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Agree to share financial information with DNS
2024–25 applications
The 2024-25 application period is now closed.
Each application must include:
- Consent to share financial information
- Letter of application (300 words) which includes why you chose the medical profession and an answer to one or more of the following:
- What is your professional goal(s)?
- Why did you choose the organization who volunteer with?
- Why is community involvement important?
- What would this bursary mean to you?
- Letter of reference from organization for which you volunteer
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2024. Doctors Nova Scotia will complete selection process and contact bursary winners by Dec. 24, 2024.
