This committee is also responsible for maintaining appropriate accounting and financial reporting principles and policies. The Audit Committee is advisory to the Board of Directors.
Criteria
Physicians and medical learners interested in a position on the Audit Committee must be:
- A member of Doctors Nova Scotia
- Financially literate
- Willing to commit to a two- to three-year term
Eligibility
A member-at-large is any member with the right to hold an office (full members, retired members, members on leave, clinical assistants), as outlined in Section 1 of the Rules & Regulations. A medical learner is a student or a resident member.
Time commitment
Serving on the Audit Committee involves:
- Four meetings per year (about two hours each)
- Review of meeting materials
- Additional meetings as required
Expression of interest
Doctors Nova Scotia members interested in serving on the Audit Committee can submit an Expression of Interest form.
Vacancies
There are currently no vacancies on the committee, however members can submit an Expression of Interest at any time and it will be kept on file for two years.

Each member can serve a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms. If the incumbent wants to re-offer for a second term, the appointment must be recommended by the committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
